Also, if you know of any sites I should feature, email me at sotd@someonwhocares.org or
post a note on the message board.
12/30/01 - pollock - Pollock is known for its excellent pheasant hunting, walleye fishing, and beautiful scenery. Errr.. make that Pollock, South Dakota. Though, I too, have beautiful scenery. (pollockschool.com)
12/29/01 - verbix - Verb conjugations on-line. A free version of commercial software that conjugates verbs in dozens of languages. (verbix.com/webverbix.asp)
12/18/01 - here is new york - An excellent collection of photographs of New York, taken by New Yorkers, following the terrorist attack. (hereisnewyork.org)
12/17/01 - google catalog search - I suppose the web, images and usenet isn't enough, you can now use google to search mail-order catalogs. I can't stress enough how much google frightens me at times. (catalogs.google.com)
12/13/01 - nobel e-musem - An excellent source for information about the Nobel Prize. Lists of all winners, bios, and information on what they did. It's worth poking around for a bit, to learn about some of the most influencial people of the last century. (www.nobel.se)
12/12/01 - google groups 20 year archive - Google has fully integrated the past 20 years of Usenet archives into Google Groups, which now offers access to more than 700 million messages dating back to 1981. This includes such gems as Linus Torvalds first post about his "Pet Project", a rather uninteresting oldest post in the archive about a Versatec V-80 electrostatic plotter, and many more gems. (google.com/googlegroups/archive_announce_20.html)
12/11/01 - pollock's site of the day - It was one year ago today that I started this whole site of the day nonsense. From the days on my old undergrad.math account at U(W), to my spankin' new co-located server at theorem.ca, I had no idea that a little experiment to help me learn Perl would go so far. Though, other than through an IP address, I don't really know who most of them are, (drop me a line sometime, or leave a note on my message board), I even seem to have some regulars. So enjoy, and let's hope that with a few suggestions from you, I can keep this going strong for another year. (someonewhocares.org/siteoftheday)
12/09/01 - pseudodictionary - The dictionary for words that didn't make it into "real dictionaries. Some of these are aboslutely hilarious. (and useful) (pseudodictionary.com)
12/07/01 - ghetto-colo.com - Cheaper than a hot car stereo! They be trickin' bitz out all ova' da innanet! (Server colocation in da hood) (ghetto-colo.com)
12/02/01 - pb and f weblog - The great bet of the new millenium. Would you rather eat nothing but frosting and peanut butter for a week, or live in a Home Depot? I can't decide if I think this is cool, or completely idiotic. (blueberryjohnsons.com/home_depot)
12/01/01 - theorem.ca - The server is up and running on a very nice internet connection. I'm so happy. Many thanks to Mike Froh for all his help (so much help), the people at Datavaults for selling us our bandwidth, and all of the users who got in early, and helped point out the glaring omissions and mess ups in our offerings and configurations. If you're looking for a place to park your email, or a pretty sweet hosting package, drop me an email at pollock@theorem.ca. (theorem.ca)
